Dichloromethane (DCM), also known as methane dichloride, methylene chloride, or DCM, is a colorless organic compound with a pungent, ether-like odor. Its chemical formula is CH2Cl2. Methylene chloride ch2cl2 is formed by replacing two hydrogen atoms in methane (CH4) with chlorine atoms. It is slightly soluble in water, soluble in ethanol and ether, and is a non-flammable, low-boiling-point solvent under normal operating conditions. Its vapor forms a weakly flammable mixed gas only when it reaches high concentrations in hot air. Dichloromethane (CAS 75-09-2) is often used to replace flammable petroleum ether and ether. Its good solubility makes it widely used in industrial applications such as industrial solvents, intermediates, and coolants.  DCM Dichloromethane solvent also has important uses in pharmaceutical preparations, laboratories, and the pharmaceutical industry.
